Terms of Service

These Terms are an agreement between you and L8TENCY, LLC (“we,” “us”), the operator of PlayChart at playchart.gg (the “Service”). By using PlayChart, you agree to them.

We built a site where you pick between two games and that builds your personal ranking. Here’s the deal, plainly:

  • Be 13 or older.
  • Don’t be a jerk, and don’t cheat the rankings.
  • Your votes and profile are public. That’s the whole point.
  • Don’t break or abuse the site, and don’t scrape it with bots.
  • Game info and art belong to IGDB; the PlayChart name and design are ours.
  • This is a small project provided “as is.” It might break, change, or go down.
  • We can suspend accounts that break the rules. You can leave anytime.

This summary is just a friendly overview. The sections below are the actual terms.

1. Who can use PlayChart

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If the minimum age for online services where you live is higher than 13, you must meet that age (or have a parent or guardian’s permission). By using PlayChart, you confirm you meet this requirement.

2. Your account

  • You’re responsible for your account and for keeping your password safe.
  • Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep it current.
  • One account per person. Don’t share your account or use someone else’s.
  • Tell us at marketing@l8tency.com if you think your account has been compromised.

3. The rules

When using PlayChart, don’t:

  • Manipulate or game the rankings — for example, using bots, scripts, or fake accounts to inflate votes.
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other people.
  • Put illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or infringing content in your username, display name, bio, or avatar.
  • Scrape, crawl, or hammer the Service with automated tools (our own bot doesn’t count).
  • Try to break, overload, hack, or reverse-engineer the Service, or get around its security.
  • Impersonate someone else or pretend to be affiliated with us when you’re not.

Breaking these rules can get your account suspended or removed.

4. Your content

“Your content” means anything you add — your username, display name, bio, avatar, and your votes and rankings.

  • You own your content. We don’t claim ownership of it.
  • You give us permission to use it to run the Service. Specifically, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and share your content as part of operating PlayChart — including showing your profile and rankings publicly and, if you link Discord, displaying your chart in our Discord community and weekly social posts.
  • You’re responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to post it.
  • It’s public. Your username, profile, and rankings are visible to anyone. Don’t put anything in them you wouldn’t want public.
  • We can remove content that breaks these Terms.

5. Rankings and how they work

PlayChart calculates personal and global rankings from votes using an Elo-style system. These rankings are for fun and discovery — they’re our calculations, not facts, and we can adjust, recalculate, reset, or change how the system works at any time. We don’t guarantee the rankings are accurate, fair, or complete.

6. Linking Discord

Connecting your Discord account is optional. If you do, you’re also bound by Discord’s own terms and our community rules. You can unlink at any time.

7. Our stuff and other people’s stuff

  • The PlayChart name, logo, design, and the site itself belong to us. Don’t copy or reuse them without permission.
  • Game data, descriptions, cover art, and screenshots come from IGDB and belong to IGDB and its sources. PlayChart uses IGDB under its terms. We don’t claim ownership of game content.
  • Other than your own content, don’t copy or redistribute material from the Service.

8. The Service is provided “as is”

PlayChart is a small, evolving project. We may add, change, pause, or shut down features — or the whole Service — at any time, without notice. We don’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or that your data will never be lost. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, L8TENCY, LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed US $100. Some places don’t allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Suspension and ending your account

  • We can suspend or remove your account if you break these Terms or abuse the Service.
  • You can stop using PlayChart and delete your account at any time — see our Privacy Policy for how account deletion and your data are handled.
  • Sections that should reasonably survive (like content licenses for content already shared, disclaimers, and liability limits) continue after your account ends.

11. Privacy

Your use of PlayChart is also covered by our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and how we handle it.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make meaningful changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, let you know in the Service. If you keep using PlayChart after a change, you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be handled by the state or federal courts located in New York, and you agree to that jurisdiction.
